Welham Green is a small village in Hertfordshire just south of Hatfield. Over the coming months we are hoping to establish an history group. The principle idea is that this group will evolve organically and develop out of a genuine enthusiasm for history.
Our first meeting. The idea of our first meeting was to facilitate a discussion about the history of Welham Green and the surrounding area. We set ourselves the objective of trying ot organise a walk around the village so that those participating can share their knowledge and/or curiosity of this local history.
In general, I believe it would be fair to say that all of those who attended enjoyed the conversation. What was very clear was that within the memories of those who came is a lot of knowledge of the local history matched also with a desire to preserve it. Welham Green is actually a little gem of a place with a very distinct place in the history of Hertfordshire. As part of the North Mymms parish centered around St Mary's Church which is found within Mimms Park, Welham Green is part of a small aggregation of local communities and hamlets.
